Ponderings by Picasso

I love messin' with humans. It's so easy.

Take the female human in my household. She is convinced I am deaf.

I catch her talking really loud to me or getting up close to my ears when speaking.

I totally ignore her, which just convinces her even more.

But, every once in a while, I react when she makes a noise.

I see that look at her face like "Wow, the cat can hear."

After that glimmer of hope, I don't flinch the rest of the day.

It's just too easy.

Later, P.

No silly goose

Even though snow is in the forecast for the next few days, spring has sprung in my neighborhood with the return of a pair of Canada geese that nest each year in my backyard.

The geese are quite friendly, and often jump up on the deck and peer into the window to see what's cooking.

Because they are also inclined to leave droppings,  I decided to block their path to the deck by moving my outdoor grill in front of the steps.

Silly me, as you can see from this photo.

Please help cat sanctuary

Caroline’s Kids Cat Sanctuary, 7394 Morley Road in Concord Township, needs on-going help with veterinary bills.

The sanctuary receives no government funding and relies on the generosity of donors to help the 270 cats that call it home.

In addition to the daily operating expenses of food, litter, facility maintenance, utilities and upkeep, the largest expense is the veterinary care provided to all the cats, including many with special needs.
The responsibility to care for the medical needs of the cats is also a responsibility to the veterinarians for their care.

The director of the sanctuary is putting out a plea for on-going help with this expense.
Every dollar donated for this purpose goes directly to these vet bills.

To donate to the care of the cats for medical expenses, send donations to Caroline’s Kids Pet Rescue, P.O. Box 24068, Mayfields Heights, Ohio 44124 (this is the office mailing address). Please note for vet bills on the memo part of the check. Donations via PayPal can be made on the group’s website,

For more information on how to make a donation, call the office at 440-449-3496.

Ponderings by Picasso

Top reason why I hated to see Pope Benedict XVI resign is summed up in this quote I stumbled upon:

“The street talk that the pope loves cats is incorrect. The pope adores cats,” said Cardinal Roger Mahony, the archbishop of Los Angeles.

Now, that's my kind of pope.

Word is Benedict will spend his retirement praying, writing his memoirs, reading books and playing with his two cats.

Not necessarily in that order, except for the praying part, of course.
